What it does

Frankenstyle cleans up a messy file. It finds the spacing, corner radii, stroke widths and type that were typed in by hand, stitches them into a named scale of variables and text styles, and connects every layer to them.

How it works

  1. Scan a frame, a page or the whole file: auto-layout gaps and padding, corner radii, stroke widths, and every text layer’s font, size, line height and letter spacing.
  2. Review the plan. Near-identical values merge, so 15.8 becomes 16 and a lone 15px card joins the 16px ones.
  3. Build. It creates the variables and text styles, then connects every layer to them.
  4. Go Compact, if you like. One switch makes gaps and padding a step tighter, so 16 becomes 12.
  5. Check. Scan again to see that nothing is left to stitch.

What you need

  • Figma desktop app or browser.
  • Compact mode needs a Figma plan with more than one variable mode (Professional or above). The plugin checks before you pay.

Questions

Will it change my file without asking?
No. Nothing changes until you approve the plan, and one Undo reverses the whole build.
What happens to odd values like 15.8?
Near-identical values merge into the nearest step on the scale, so 15.8 becomes 16. You see every merge before it happens.
